In the period from February 18 to 20, 2025, a final workshop was held in Bihać (BiH) for the preparation of the "Handbook for ensuring the rights and integration of BiH citizens returned to BiH on the basis of Readmission Agreements". The participants of this workshop were representatives of the state, entity and cantonal levels of government, as well as representatives of local communities in BiH, previously appointed as members of the working group that continuously worked on the development of the mentioned handbook.

After the introductory presentation with the results of the work on the components of the aforementioned handbook by the representatives of the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees BiH, the participants continued further work on the final changes and finalization of this important document, which was followed by the presentation of an information sheet for readmitted BiH citizens. The goal of this initiative is to create a standardized and efficient framework for assisting returning citizens in reintegration, ensuring adequate and timely access to basic services with guaranteed protection of human rights.

With this handbook, an effort will be made to improve the legal security and protection of persons who return to BiH on the basis of readmission agreements, through a clear presentation, explanation and facilitation of administrative procedures and defining the responsibilities of various actors in the naimed process.

The creation of the mentioned handbook will also result in the improvement of inter-institutional and local cooperation, which will enable a contribution to the stability of the successful reintegration of BiH citizens.

The project "Strengthening migration management, asylum and return processes in the Western Balkans", within which the aforementioned workshop was held, is implemented by Hilfswerk International (HWI) in partnership with the Joint Coordination Platform (JCP), financed by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and the Federal Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Austria.
